You might be wondering how long does it take to grow marijuana? Read on below to find out the different stages of cannabis growth and what is involved, to get the plant over the finish line!

How Long Does It Take to Grow Marijuana?

First of all cannabis growth is made up of different stages of plant life. Each stage has a unique evolution to it and will vary in timespan. Every stage also has its own demands with regard to nutrients, water, and the amount of sunlight.

The short answer is that it can take anywhere from 4 to 8 months to grow marijuana. Growing outdoors relying solely on the seasons and sunlight takes the longest and will take 8 months to fully grow.

When the plant is grown indoors, having knowledge of the growing stages, reduces the timespan significantly and you can take a plant from seed to full growth in around 4 months.

    Different Stages of Cannabis Growth

To fully appreciate the lifecycle of a cannabis plant, you need to familiarize yourself with the stages of growth and then you will know how to lengthen the time it takes to grow, or shorten it for your benefit.

    Germination Phase

The germination phase is when the Cannabis Seeds sprout out a root that forms the basis of the plant. Germinating can take anywhere from 1 day to 7 days. The time it takes depends on the moisture and the temperature of the soil or environment around the seed.

    Seedling Stage

The seedling stage occurs after the germination phase and is a very fragile stage of the young plant’s life. Ensure the plant gets some water and 18 hours or more of sunlight. Expect this stage to last 2-3 weeks.

    Vegetative Stage

This stage is considered the stage at which the cannabis plant grows. This is the stage when growers will top and train the plant. A cannabis plant can remain in this stage and continuously grow without an end. Keeping the plant at 18 hours of light will do this. Otherwise, 2-8 weeks in the negative stage.

    Flowering Stage

This is the stage when the cannabis plant flowers and produces the buds that growers are after. In this stage, the plant will need a good few blooming nutrients and can last for 6-8 weeks. After this stage, the plant can be harvested.

    Perfection Takes Time

Growing cannabis is an art form that can’t be rushed. Rushing through the growth will only yield less return in the bud department. How long does it take to grow marijuana? Well, that is in the hands of the grower!
