The Quickest Deep Clean Kitchen Checklist

We cook dinner every night in our kitchen. And then have family gatherings and holidays in our kitchen.

It’s no wonder that kitchens can be the dirtiest rooms in our houses. So how do you make sure that it’s as clean as it can be?

    The answer is deep cleaning!

However, if you’ve never deep cleaned your kitchen it can seem like a huge intimidating task – and you might not even know where to start.

Luckily, we’ve done the dirty work for you. Below you’ll find our essential deep clean kitchen checklist that anyone can follow.

    Polish Surfaces First

Start your kitchen cleaning by dusting shelves, counters, and appliances, followed by wiping them down with a multipurpose cleaner and microfiber cloth. Don’t forget to do a thorough sink cleaning, scrub and sanitize the sink, faucet, and handles.

To reduce germs it’s a great idea to clean the refrigerator’s handles and shelves. Move on to the exterior and interior of the oven, including the hood and knobs, as well as the stovetop.

    Tackle the Garbage Area

Empty the garbage can and give it a thorough wiping down with a warm, soapy cleaning solution. Do the same for the lid and outside of the garbage can.

Sweep or vacuum up all garbage scraps and place them in the larger garbage bag. Wipe down the bin surrounding the garbage can, and clean any drawers that may be in the area.

Wash out the garbage can and replace the large garbage bag.

Soak and Scrub the Floors and Walls

Prepare a mixture of one cup of vinegar, one cup of baking soda, and a gallon of warm water in a bucket or bowl. Apply this mixture to the floor and walls using a sponge or scrubbing brush and make sure to fully rinse it off when you’re finished. This will help loosen dirt, remove grease and soap scum, and kill bacteria in your kitchen.

To get the walls clean, you can also use a mop and bucket of warm water and mild detergent. And, if your kitchen has tile, make sure to use a tile scrubber or a wire brush to get into all the nooks and crannies.

Once you’ve finished scrubbing, rinse with clean warm water and let the walls and floors dry completely.

    Reorganize the Fridge and Pantry

Clear out all the refrigerator shelves and drawers, discard dated items, and check if any manufacturers’ expiry dates are overdue. Remove jars and bottles from the shelves and wash them with soap and warm water. Don’t forget to wipe down the shelves on the fridge, then put the items back.

Next, sort through your pantry goods, discarding the stale, spoiled, or expired items so the space is only used up for the good stuff. Once all the old items are out, wipe down the shelves and arrange the items so you can easily see what’s what. The products furthest away from you should be the ones that have longer shelf lives.
